How You Can Help Cherry Crest Amid the Education Funding Crisis

You may have heard about the recent education funding crisis in Washington and Dr. Aramaki’s plan to reduce spending by $20 million for the 2025-2026 school year to stabilize the district’s finances.

It’s a lot to take in, and you may be wondering — what can I do to help?

Movie Night

March 7th from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Cherry Crest Gym/Café, with doors opening at 5:45 PM. Join us for a fun-filled evening featuring a PG-rated movie. Bring a blanket and pillow for comfortable seating, and if possible, bring cash for concessions. Students must be accompanied by an adult, as this is not a drop-off event. Tickets are free but required for headcount. Concessions, including pizza, candy, drinks, and more, will be available for purchase.

2025 Cherry Crest Variety Show Talent Submission

🎭 Calling All Cherry Crest Students!  It’s time to rise and shine for this year’s Cherry Crest Variety Show! Showcase your singing, dancing, gymnastics, magic tricks, or any special talent on stage!

 

Submit your talent by Fri, Feb 14th @ 8 PM PST here.
Make sure to review the guidelines and submit your audition video by March 18th !

Donate Clothes to the Cherry Crest Clinic

The Cherry Crest Clinic provides extra clothes for students who get dirty, have accidents, etc. The Clinic’s supply has gotten very low– they are in need of items for boys and girls: pants, tops, underwear, socks, and sweatshirts. All sizes are needed, especially for Kindergarten-3rd grade.

Help Volunteer for School Hearing Screenings

We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with conducting hearing screenings under the guidance of our trained professionals. Training will be provided ahead of the screenings in person, virtually or via video tutorial for late Sept through October.

Picture Day is September 24th

Picture Day is September 24th, where your student will have both individual and class group photos. Online order instructions will be sent home with your child, so please be sure to check their backpacks. If your child misses the September 24th date or you are unhappy with their photo, there will be a make up picture day on November 19th.

Parent Education Classes from Kindering

Kindering offers a variety of Parent Education classes and 1:1 coaching and support aimed at giving parents and caregivers confidence and useful strategies as they navigate their children’s early years. January’s offerings are Social and Emotion Coaching with Young Children on 1/28 @ 6:30-8:00pm via Zoom; and Why the First 2000 Days Matter: A Look Inside the Brain on 1/30 @ 6-7pm via Zoom.
