How You Can Help Cherry Crest Amid the Education Funding Crisis

You may have heard about the recent education funding crisis in Washington (watch this short video) and Dr. Aramaki’s plan to reduce spending by $20 million for the 2025-2026 school year to stabilize the district’s finances. It’s a lot to take in, and you may be wondering—what can I do to help?

Here are five impactful ways you can take action:

  1. Advocate for More State Funding – WA PTSA needs more signatures by Feb 11 at 3 PM to push for increased education funding. Add your name at wak12.org.
  2. Support Our Spring Fundraiser – Our Final Cherry Crest PTSA fundraiser for the year kicks off in late March and culminates with the Walkathon on May 9. Every dollar raised directly supports our students’ academic, extracurricular, and community experiences. Stay tuned for more details!
  3. Share Your Feedback on Budget Cuts – Dr. Aramaki’s proposed reductions are open for community input. Submit your thoughts via this feedback form.
  4. Join Our Board as a Legislative Lead – We’re looking for a dedicated volunteer to advocate for Cherry Crest at the state level. Interested? Reach out to nominatingcommittee@cherrycrest-ptsa.org.
  5. Attend Our PTSA General Meeting – March 25 – Get updates on the funding gap and hear from Principal Stedman. We’ll also discuss our Walkathon fundraiser in person. Mark your calendar! Light treats will be served.
Together, we can make a difference for our students and community. Thank you for your support!
