Cherry Crest G5 Promotion June 16

Dear Cherry Crest Grade 5 students and families,

The end of this crazy school year is arriving quickly and for our 5th grade students this signals the end of an era at Cherry Crest. In order to commemorate the milestone of passing from elementary to middle school, Cherry Crest staff, in collaboration with PTSA and 5th grade parent volunteers, are planning a variety of Grade 5 promotion activities on Wednesday June 16th.

Staff Appreciation Week – Thank You!

There has been an outpouring of thanks from the teachers in response to your generosity and kindness shown through the National Staff Appreciation week (May 3-7), and the entire year. We have captured some of their heartfelt comments at the Staff Appreciation Page as well as in the not-to-be-missed Kudoboard linked in Mr. Steere’s message below:

Message from Dusty

“On behalf of all Cherry Crest staff, thank you for taking time last week to honor and celebrate the teachers and staff at our school. Whether it was a heartfelt thank you card, a personalized work of art from a student, or a flower, we were overwhelmed with the outpouring of gratitude and support! Students did a marvelous job expressing gratitude and encouragement to staff via the Padlet as well—so impressive!

On top of the what students provided last week, Cherry Crest’s amazing PTSA spoiled our staff with hot drinks, boxed lunches and goodie bags for both in-person and virtual staff! A special thank you to PTSA Staff Appreciation Chair Kathy Hotchkies for organizing all these efforts.

As a small token of our gratitude, click here to view a KudoBoard with our personalized thanks and gratitude in addition to a virtual staff photo that we took during a recent staff meeting.

Thank You Cherry Crest Families!

Outdoor Get Togethers at Cherry Crest

Some fun on the playground!

Would you like to meet up with other parents while your children get to see their friends outside? This is an informal invitation to meet up by grade level.

All grades welcome at all times—this is a very informal gathering.

Getting Help with Technology

Tech support for all elementary students attending school in person is available at school during their school day. We have an on site technology assistant, Carli Weinberg, available for students and staff.

Virtual elementary students needing in-person support can visit the new Elementary Student Tech Center at the Wilburton Instructional Service Center (WISC).

Family Running Club – Celebrate our Milestone Achievers!

Congratulations to our milestone achievers!  Want to join?  Register online and then come walk, jog or run with fellow Cherry Crest families as often as your family’s schedule allows.  We meet weekdays 5-6pm at the Cherry Crest track until June 18th.

Take the Bus!

We are finding that dismissal is taking longer than normal for parents driving their children to and from school. With hybrid students across all grades returning to the Cherry Crest building, we strongly encourage all eligible students to take the school bus! Visit the Cherry Crest website for details about having your child safely and efficiently travel to/from Cherry Crest on the bus.

District Offers School Bus Route Tracking with Edulog App

The Bellevue School District is providing the Edulog Parent Portal smart phone app to deliver information about your student’s school bus ride. It allows you to access designated bus stop times and locations of your student’s school bus.

In Person Learning Updates from Principal Steere

On March 11 Principal Steere recorded a video for families with information and updates related to in person learning at Cherry Crest elementary. Watch the video for:

In person learning expansion – Safety and Health Conditions Review Team

School and district leaders have begun work on plans to expand in-person services for third through fifth grade students.  This includes resurveying family choices for hybrid or virtual learning last summer. We don’t yet have firm dates for return but do know that they will follow a similar half day AM/PM model as primary grades.  Our safety team meets weekly to review relevant local COVID data and building safety readiness.
