Running Club: Peace Torch Visit and Marathon Accomplishments

On May 20, runners from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run spoke to students about their mission of spreading peace around the globe, performed their peace song and joined students for a few laps around the track with the peace torch.  Special thanks to Rupasi Young for including Cherry Crest Elementary on their route for the first time ever!

Congratulations to 5th graders Ender and Parker in Ms. Hemker’s class who both completed a marathon (26.2 miles) and were awarded certificates by Mrs. Stedman in class. Running Club is a free, optional club available to students during lunch recess every day except Wednesday.

PTSA General Meeting Tonight at 7:00pm

Please join us at the PTSA general meeting next Tuesday.

Being a parent and a part of the PTSA family, you are welcome to join and discover new ways to support our Comm(UNITY).

This is a great chance to learn about the structure and functioning of Cherry Crest PTSA and how we work along with staff, students and families.

You will be witnessing the approval of the 2022-2023 budget in this meeting. We hope to see you there!

Principal Steere may also discuss demographic projections for staffing in the coming year and will talk about Field Day.

Volunteers needed Friday, May 13!

As part of Walk-a-thon, several classes won a party in the gym on Friday, May 13. PTSA supplies the activities, but we need volunteers to run the games. Please sign up if you can help during these special celebrations for our students. Questions? E-mail walkathon@cherrycrest-ptsa.org

The Communications Team Needs your help!

The PTSA Communications team has two volunteer openings for the 2022-2023 school year.

We seek a VP for Communications, who oversees the work of the volunteers who assemble the weekly Charger Chatter newsletter, the PTSA website, the Facebook page, and and maintains the online student directory. Time commitment is approximately 2 hours/week. Technical knowledge is not required!

Second, we seek one or more volunteer newsletter editors to assemble the weekly newsletter from news posts on the Cherry Crest PTSA website. The newsletter editor collaborates closely with the PTSA webmasters, ensuring recent news postings are presented in the newsletter as effectively as possible. Preparing the newsletter takes 1-2 hours on the weekend. The skills needed to produce the newsletter from our WordPress website are easy to pick up, so no prior skillset is required.

If you are interested in joining this motivated team of volunteers, please contact VP.1@cherrycrest-ptsa.org.

Know a Great Volunteer? Help Recognize Them!

The Golden Acorn Award is given for outstanding volunteer service and dedication to our children.

Nominations for Cherry Crest PTSA Golden Acorn awards will be accepted through Saturday, April 30th, 2022.
