Free Chess Lessons Offered by District Students

425 Kids Chess, a group of middle and high school students in the Bellevue school district, offers free online chess lessons for students of all ages!

Sign up for recurring 1-on-1 lessons tailored to your student’s level throughout the week, or group lessons to learn with peers during the weekend. Food Drive 3/7-3/11 at Cherry Crest

Cherry Crest is hosting a Food Drive the week of March 7-11 to benefit Renewal Food Bank in Bellevue.

This food drive is organized by 5th graders from Girl Scout Troop 41164 as a part of their Bronze Award service project to raise awareness for food insecurity in our community. Troop 41164 has girls from both Bennett and Cherry Crest, and are hosting a concurrent food drive at Bennett Elementary.

Food drive donations (see http://t.ly/UNVU for list) can be dropped off in the marked collection bins located in each of the grade-level wings, in the entrance foyer, and outside the covered area in front of the school. These donations will be gathered by the girls daily and delivered to Renewal Food Bank at the end of the food drive.

Free Tutoring through Mission InspirEd

Mission InspirEd will be offering free, weekly classes for elementary and middle school students starting the week of January 23rd.

They have qualified instructors, teaching topics ranging from Introductory Business to Intermediate Java!

Spots fill up quickly, so make sure to sign up as soon as possible.

Bellevue East Little League: Winter Clinic and Spring Registration

Bellevue East Little League is happy to announce the opening of their Winter Clinic and Spring Season registration for T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball for boys and girls between the ages 4-16. Winter Clinic starts in January.  Evaluations begin in February with the season for baseball/softball starting shortly thereafter.

Free Family Service Event – Camp Kindness Counts

Looking for ways to help in our community? The Youth Leadership committee has organized safe and fun in-person events! On December 5th we’ll make cards of encouragement and assemble snack bags for the experiencing homelessness.

SJCC “Hands on Hanukkah” Family Programming

The Stroum Jewish Community Center has created some wonderful Hanukkah programming at locations across the Eastside for families this year! 

SJCC has created a series of FREE pop up events, called “Hands on Hanukkah.” SJCC Staff will be at six different locations throughout the Seattle area to celebrate the holiday with arts and crafts and tasty treats for children of all ages. We invite families of all faiths to join us and learn about the miracle of Hanukkah!
